Mena Alexandra Suvari (born on 13 February 1979) is an American actress, fashion designer and model. She started her modeling career in 1990. She soon shifted to acting after appearances in television shows such as Boy Meets World or High Incident. Her first film appearance was on 1997's drama Nowhere. The actress made her way to major roles with her performances of American Beauty for which she was nominated for an BAFTA Award and American Pie each of which garnered more attention. In 2000, she appeared in American Pie alongside American Pie co star Jason Biggs. Her next role was her role as the main character for the role of Sugar & Spice (2002). Her appearances were in the independent drama Spun and in the 2004 thriller film Trauma. In 2004, she appeared on HBO's drama Six Feet Under. She was nominated for the Screen Actors Guild Awards in 2005 for her role in the Outstanding Ensemble. In 2008, she part of several films including Day of the Dead The Mysteries of Pittsburgh as well as the adaptation film of The Garden of Eden. Suvari is featured in a variety of fashion blogs and magazines and blogs, such as Vogue. She's the official Lancome model, and is featured on ads in print for Lancome Paris Adaptive. Suvari has been a loyal supporter and a defender of the highly regarded African relief organization the African Medical and Research Foundation. She also is active on the issue of women's empowerment and works with organizations that help raise awareness about breast cancer as well as the End Violence Against Women Campaign.
