Julia Fiona Roberts born to Betty Lou Bredemus (mother) and Walter Grady Roberts on October 28 in 1967. Roberts is part of the Robertses' fourth generation that reside in the Atlanta area beginning in the family of her grand-father John Pendleton Roberts a farmer. The Robertses' father was interested in theatre from an early age. He was a part of the Emory University campus in 1952 as well as in various productions that were staged around Atlanta. He joined the military in 1953 and, while stationed in Biloxi Mississippi, he was a part of an army production that featured Betty Lou Bredemus who was part of the Air force. The couple got married in 1955 and the couple's first child Eric Anthony was born in 1956. Walter and his wife quit the military in the year 1957, when they enrolled Walter as a student at Tulane University. Walter worked for Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio. The family moved in 1960 and moved to Decatur Georgia. Walter as well as Betty Lou financed their own production of the local Sunday morning show for children, Bum Bum and His Buddies. The following year, they started the Actors and Writers Workshop which was in operation for six years. They were joined by Lelisa Billingsley (also known as Lisa) and Julia (also known as Julie) in this time.
