Rebecca King-CrewAmerican actor Thomas William Selleck. His most memorable role was as the role of a private investigator Thomas Magnum in the television series Magnum, P.I. (1980-1988) and for which he was awarded five Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series with the winner being announced in 1985. From 2010 until 2010, Selleck was the New York City Police Chief Frank Reagan. Beginning in 2005, he has portrayed the troubled police chief of a small town Jesse Stone in nine television films that are based on the Robert B. Parker novels.In films, Selleck has played bachelor architect Peter Mitchell in Three Men and a Baby (1987) and its sequel Three Men and a Little Lady (1990). Since Magnum, P.I., the actor has appeared in more than 50 roles on TV and film, including the films Quigley Down Under, Mr. Lassiter, baseball. He was a frequent television actor on the show playing Monica Geller's love interest, Dr. Richard Burke, on Friends; Lance White, the charming and unassuming partner, in The Rockford Files; and A.J., casino owner. He also played a lead part in the TV western film The Sacketts, based on two of Louis L'Amour's books.Selleck is a California Army National Guard veteran and is a spokesperson for National Rifle Association (NRA) as well as an endorser in ads for National Review magazine, and co-founder of the Character Counts! organization.
